The Dogs
Dog History

Diesel  (lab) was the first farm dog and stole the hearts of everyone in the program!  He was an
amazing lab that knew God put him on earth to love on people!  He succeeded in his mission and
many hearts were broken the day he died to Blasto in 2007.

Zeke (Black lab) came to the farm in November of 2007.  He will never take Diesel's place, but he
too makes it his mission to lavish everyone with attention and kisses.  Zeke was our first dog to
enter the nursing homes.  He went Christmas caroling at about 9 weeks old.

Bo (boxer) found us the summer of 2008.  He had been abandoned and a family brought him to
us.  He was very sick, skinny, and had all kinds of problems.  He very quickly attached himself to
Alex and has refused to break that bond since!  He was thought to be around a year old when he
came to us. So, we say Zeke and Bo have the same birthday.

Peewee (Westie) was a part of the program before he ever came into our possession.  He is a cute
little pup around 4 years old.  When we moved out of my grandmother's house, she wanted us to
take care of him and gave Peewee to us.  The little thing has a ball running and rolling around
supposed to be an all white dog, but loves to roll in anything that will change his color!!supposed

Grace (Weimerainer) was born around the third week of December (2008).  She is a very
intelligent dog that keeps us on our toes.  She loves everyone and everything!  I've never seen a
dog love on the cats the way she does.  She is definitely a lover.  She also goes into the nursing
home.

Shorty (Boston Terrier) found us as well.  He is thought to be about three years old.  He was in sad
shape and needed some groceries in his tummy and a lot of love.  He came home with us the
summer of 2009.  The more we love on him, the more he is learning to trust and accept us.   So, we
will spend the rest of our lives loving the tar out of this little one proving to him we can be trusted
and loved.

Sam (aka: Sammy) was found at the pound the day before Valentine's Day 2010.  He is estimated
to be about two years old and be quite a mixture.  We are absolutely loving his laid-back
personality.  He greets everyone with a tail wag and kiss where ever he can find. One day he was
out carrying on a conversation with the llamas!  They were all in a huddle.  The llamas had their
heads bent down with attentive ears and Sam's tail was wagging a mile a minute!   He appears to
be full of love and the other animals know it!

Annie was our next little adventure!  She was sick when she was dropped off on the farm March
2011.  We were able to spend about five months with her before her kidneys gave out on her.  She
is dearly missed!

Simba was found at the pound with a hurt leg and very sick.  We were told he laid in a ditch for
about 4 days and then in the pound for three before we found him.  With some good old
fashioned vet care, we found out that he had been shot in the hip and then left in a ditch.
Unfortunately, his hip was shattered and there was no way to save the leg.  But, that has not
sopped Simba from running around, playing in the creek and loving on anyone that comes to the
farm!  He truly is a miracle!

Shorty
I had to shoot this picture of Gracie.
She was sound asleep and falling off the couch!  We giggled pretty hard on this one!!!!
She recently began going to the nursing homes.  She hasn't quite gotten it down, but she's still a sweetie!
Shorty is definitely our little stinker!  He loves Alex with a great passion. You can see this in the last
picture.  Alex was working on the computer sitting on the couch.  The little stinker jumped on the couch,
curled up by his elbow and threw a leg over Alex arm in a bear hug as he worked.  He slept soundly for
quite a while.  Alex works from home twice a week now.  Shorty is used to following Alex downstairs to
work and hanging out all day.  On days that he goes in to work, Shorty wakes up and yelps and hollers at
the door thinking Alex is still at home.  It takes the majority of the day to convince him that Alex isn't here.
But boy is he happy when Alex gets home!

In the first picture, Shorty and Grace were playing with the tennis ball.  He sure has a hard time getting it
in his mouth, but he sure tries to get it before Grace.  It rolled under the rocking chair and he got stuck.
We encouraged him as he figured it out on his own how to get out!
Zeke is still loving on
people and visiting the
nursing homes!

Molly
Molly is a rat terrier that was rescued from the local animal shelter.  Long story short, there was a dog there that my mother-in-law was interested in.  I
was in town, so I went to the shelter to check out the dog.  Instead of finding the dog, which had just been adopted, Molly stole my heart.  She was so
shy and scared to death.  She was attached to me for at least a week.  Her shining moment was when she maneuvered the steps to the basement by
herself.  Her confidence soared!!!!  We now call her "little Grace" because she will do anything Grace does!  They are two peas in a pod!!!
Meet Maya and Hank

Hank and Maya joined the family in August.  Maya was born in May and Hank was a
little over a year old at the time.
Sam "Sammy"

Here is a picture of Simba right after his surgery.
The dog is amazing.  Nothing slows him down.
